Your countryside basecamp

Perfectly placed for adventure & relaxation

Field Cottage sits on the edge of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, ten minutes from Ross-on-Wye and within easy reach of the Forest of Dean, Hereford, the Brecon Beacons and the Welsh borders. Whether you want gentle riverside strolls, a day on the water, historic towns or family days out, it's all close by.

A charming market town around ten minutes away, set above a sweeping bend in the River Wye. Independent shops, riverside walks, cafes and a lively weekly market.

Canoeing the River Wye

Take to the water on one of Britain's most scenic rivers. Gentle paddles and full-day descents launch from Ross, Symonds Yat and beyond.

Symonds Yat & the Rock

Goodrich Castle

A magnificent medieval ruin a short drive away, with battlements to explore and far-reaching views across the valley.

Hereford & the Mappa Mundi

The cathedral city of Hereford, home to the medieval Mappa Mundi and Chained Library, is around 25 minutes away.

Hay-on-Wye

The world-famous "town of books" on the edge of the Brecon Beacons — packed with bookshops, galleries and cafes.

Monmouth & the borders
